Pushing Through When You Hear the Word "NO"

If you've been following along closely you may have watched our stories on Instagram (or read in an email) about a month ago when we talked about taking the plunge and applying to be a part of a craft/vintage market in our area in March. We had to jump through a lot of hoops just to get to this point (including becoming a legal business and getting a tax ID number amongst other things).  All these things took time and we ended up applying to the event relatively late in the game. We were still SO excited at the prospect and we floated on the "high" of sending in our application for weeks. Then we got weary of waiting. We got a little worried. We got discouraged.

We could have sat in that...maybe we even wanted to wallow a little. We must not have gotten in or we would have heard something, right?! We decided to reach out and send an email. We composed a delicate balance of bragging and begging and professionalism and sent it into the world wide web and waited again. This time, we heard back.

The event is full. We have been wait-listed. Mix of emotions here. Of course we were disappointed that we didn't get an outright spot BUT we were on a list. And being on a list is better than nothing at all. We talked and debated for a while about if we should press on like we got, in just in case we did get a call that someone dropped out and there was a spot for us, OR if we should move on to something else and redirect our time and energy.

THIS IS THE CROSSROAD that we sit at when we hear the word "NO." This becomes a moment of incredible opportunity. Resilience or redirection? Which to choose? Each one has its proper time and place and in different seasons of my life I would have chosen one over the other for any number of reasons. In this season we chose RESILIENCE! We are pushing on and creating like never before to be ready for the phone call that says they have a space for us. Fingers crossed and holding on to hope! Thanks for being along for the ride!

XOXO,

Marc & Barb
