We've share a little bit on our Instagram about how we are focusing more on face time with the people around us & reading more books instead of spending time aimlessly scrolling social media. Sometimes this is hard to do because a portion of our biz revolves around social media. But the relationship with those around us is FAR more important than any highlight reel online. If you can't remember the last time you had face to face/ screenless time with someone prior to Valentine's Day, these changes might be worth trying out!
Two changes that Marc has made to focus on this is a weekly date night with her husband & by getting off her phone when her husband gets home from work (most nights). Hubs & I typically go out on Wednesday nights to our favorite burrito place & we chat about what has happened to far in our weeks and take time just investing in each other & our marriage. On normal nights, Josh gets home around 7:30 from work. We go to bed around 9 because he has to be at work at 4:30 & I go to the gym at 5:35. So when he gets home, we chat about our days, cuddle our puppies & watch Criminal Minds or A Million Little Things.
If you don't take a day off of social media or don't schedule time to spend face to face with people you love, I highly encourage you to add this practice into your daily life. It is SO important & I promise it is so fulfilling.
Below is a picture of all the sunflowers Josh bought me our first Valentine's Day together. He had each of my students bring me on & the last one had a note asking me to be his Valentine. The next picture is our Valentine's Day tradition -- a heart shaped chocolate chip cookie.
XOXO,
Marc & Barb
