How/Where/When to Use Essential Oils

*Thankful for another great blog contributor! Make sure you check her out below!

“So, can I just put the oils everywhere, then?” “Yes, Karen... YES!”

Applying essential oils topically will become one of your favorite daily habits. Consistent use can help your body feel relaxed, energized, balanced or rejuvenated depending on the oils you apply.

How exactly can you use essential oils? There are 3 primary ways:

  1. Topically

  2. Aromatically

  3. Ingesting

When applying essentials oils topically, you can roll on your body in various places according to the area in need. The most common places to apply topically are:

✨upper body: head, neck, shoulders, heart, chest, abdomen and wrists

✨lower body: legs, knees, ankles, feet

Please note -> When applying essential oils on children, the most common places on the body are the head, chest, tummy, wrists, spine and feet.

How do the oils work in conjunction with my body?

Anytime you apply, rub or massage essential oils into your skin, your experience starts with sensory receptors.

Head tension relief?

Applying peppermint to your temples triggers receptors and sends cooling signals to your brain. The result? A slight tingling sensation all over your head! Pretty cool, right?

When applying essential oils aromatically, you can diffuse them in an oil diffuser or place desired drops on the palm of your hand, cup your nose and mouth and inhale.

It’s amazing what oils can do to support your physical, emotional, mental and social well being!

When ingesting essential oils, it is best to utilize the Vitality oils which are specifically labeled for internal use. These oils come with directions on how to ingest safely and for each specific need. The white label on the Vitality oils indicates they are FDA approved for consumption.

These ingestible oils support your digestive, nervous, immune, circulatory and many other systems in your body!

Now that you’ve learned how and where you can use essential oils, let’s talk about when to use them.

Here are a few fun ideas for you:

✨Having a stressful day? Make a DIY bath bomb with lavender essential oil and chill!

✨Need to clean some greasy pans? Drop some lemon essential oil onto it for a deep clean and refreshing scent!

✨Want to catch up on some sleep? Diffuse some lavender, chamomile or cedarwood essential oil in your bedroom and get to snoozing!

✨Trouble with allergies? Place some raven essential oil into the palm of your hands, inhale and rub some on your chest for easy breathing!

✨Need an immune system boost? Drop some frankincense or lemon Vitality essential oil into your water and drink up!

Here’s my testimonial of our Young Living essential oils:

“My essential oil journey started after having my daughter. I began getting migraines constantly and didn’t know why. After consuming countless meds that didn’t work, I was desperate for a natural remedy. That’s when I found Young Living and I am forever grateful. They changed my life!”
