Myths & Truths About Essential Oils

**Super THANKFUL for our guest contributor on the blog today!

The first thing that may come to your mind is:

What are these essential oils everyone is talking about?

Essential oils are highly concentrated extracts from plants, flowers, trees, seeds, roots, obtained by distillation, extraction and cold pressing, free of harmful chemical processes. When used correctly, essential oils can help support you in your health and wellness journey.

There’s a lot of misinformation, differing opinions and noise on the internet. The most pressing question I asked myself before joining Young Living was:

Are all essential oils made of the same quality?

To answer that simply, no! A quick search on the internet will give you SO MANY different essential oil companies. You might have noticed grocery stores, large chain retail stores, boutiques, etc.. all selling essential oils.

While I can’t speak to those oils and their quality, I can say that I wholeheartedly trust Young Living's quality of essential oils.

Not all essential oils are created equally and Young Living’s Seed to Seal promise is the biggest reason why I switched to Young Living!

The Seed to Seal promise is Young Living’s set of standards ensuring you receive pure essential oil and providing a pristine final product that has been created with conscientious Sourcing, Science and Standards (more to come on this in future posts)!

What is the difference between essential oils and fragrances?

The difference between the two is how they are made.  Essential oils are distilled from plants and are safe to use on our bodies. Fragrance is synthetically created and contains toxins and chemicals that are harmful to our bodies.  When you have some time, look up “fragrance loophole” on the internet, you will be SHOCKED! I know I was when I first started doing my research.

I’ve noticed when looking for oils that they say 100% Therapeutic Grade Essential Oil … what does that mean?

Essential oil companies are not regulated by the FDA. As long as the essential oil that companies are selling contains some percentage of oil it can be labeled as 100% Therapeutic Grade Essential Oil. Therefore companies can call them anything to make them sound “pure.” Young Living is the only company with a Seed to Seal guarantee.
