The babe who I stared my oily journey with -- the one & only Steph -- is sharing with us today on the blog! Make sure you follow her over on IG (handle below)
In August 2019, I sat in a convention hall listening to one of the chief scientists of Young Living speak about his experiences working with Gary Young (the founder of Young Living). In his early years working with the company, he worked side by side with Gary learning how to fully understand plants, soil and ecosystem health - Gary’s way.
He talked about how he watched Gary walking in the fields, grabbing hold of young plants and pulling them straight out of the ground. He would bite off and chew pieces of the roots, he would smell and taste the soil. He would look at the way the flowers bloomed and how the leaves were shaped. He would dig into the soil to make sure there was an abundance of helpful insects, indicating good soil health.
There were so many unconventional things about how Gary learned to plant, cultivate, harvest and produce the highest quality, therapeutic grade essential oils. These unconventional ways, became THE way. The ONLY way that it should be done.
Young Living calls this, Seed to Seal.
After this presentation, we watched this exact video, and it was even more powerful to see this process after hearing about the incredible work Gary Young did and what his company continues to do.
What is Seed to Seal?
There are 3 branches of Seed to Seal:
1. Sourcing: Where do my oils come from and how are farms regulated?
2. Science: How does Young Living ensure my oils are pure, safe and contain the highest concentration of therapeutic constituents?
3. Standards: How does Young Living regulate production, consumption and environmental impacts?
If you need EVEN MORE sciency facts--- this is the link for you!
Did you know?
Inexpensive essential oils are often synthetic, adulterated, or unethically sourced, which is why Young Living chooses partners who produce pure essential oils and ingredients ethically and legally.
Young Living sets one of the top-tiers standard for sustainability. Fields are rotated to replenish vital nutrients, are hand weeded, and any pest control is done with essential oils or by bringing in helpful insects.
Fact: Young Living spends $12,000 per acre to hand weed the lavender fields in Moana, Utah vs.competitors who spend roughly $60 acre to spray herbicides and pesticides.
Young Living has done so much testing that they know the exact time of day when plants have their highest concentration of constituents. That means they don’t harvest plants until they are ready or in their most prime health.
You can visit any of Young Living’s Farms which are located all over the world. You are welcomed to visit them, in person. Here is a link to see the farms.
Basically all you need to know is when you choose Young Living, they have your back and are fully transparent about their entire business. They have done the hard, valuable work so you as a consumer can fully trust AND enjoy the products you are using. Can you think of other companies doing this? I can’t.
Sending you high vibes, love and light always,
Stephanie Cogliano
