What is toxic overload?

* We are super thankful for Jennie sharing her expertise with us on this post! Make sure you follow along with her over on IG (handle below)

Hi Girlfriend,

Today, let’s talk about toxic overload. Toxic overload affects our health - but after reading this email you’ll know what you can do to fix the problem. Let’s dive in.

What is Toxic Overload?

Toxic overload happens when our bodies and brain accumulate toxins due to exposure from poor diet, emotional stress, trauma, medication, lack of exercise, cleaning products and personal care products. It is a heavy burden on our bodies and interferes with fundamental organ and gland functions.

Toxins are synthetic chemicals or poisons known to have harmful effects on the body. When your body becomes overloaded by these toxins, it leads to toxic overload, which causes damage to your liver and kidneys.

Our bodies process toxins through the liver and kidneys, and these organs help get rid of the toxins in our body in the form of sweat, urine and feces. When toxins aren’t properly processed, they will build up and generate free radicals which cause damage, some of which are irreversible.

Effects of toxic overload include:

- allergies

- digestive sensitivities (IBS, constipation etc.)

- brain fog

- hormone imbalance

- low energy

- physical ache + pain and,

- Skin issues (acne, rashes, puffy eyes, eczema etc.)

Moreover, there are other severe issues that arise when we expose ourselves to toxins, such as:

1. Toxins poison enzymes (proteins in our cells) so they don’t work properly.

Our bodies are enzyme engines. Every physiological function depends upon enzymes to manufacture molecules, produce energy, and create cell structure.

2. Toxins displace structural minerals, resulting in weaker bones.

We need to maintain healthy bone mass for lifelong mobility, but when toxins displace the calcium present in our bones, there is a two-fold effect: weaker skeletal structure and increased toxins. This creates bone loss throughout the body.

3. Toxins damage the organs.

Not just the liver and kidneys, but toxins damage nearly all our organs and systems. This will cause damage through the entire body, and will remain toxic.

4. Toxins damage DNA, which increases the rate of aging and degeneration.

Many commonly used pesticides, phthalates, improperly detoxified estrogens, and products contain benzene which damage DNA.

5. Last but not least, toxins actually impair our ability to detoxify – the worst problem of all.

WOW, all of this from toxins? Yes, but there is good news!

We can beat toxic overload with these FIVE simple and practical steps:

1. Survey your household + personal care products – Pull them out of your cabinets + drawers and put them on the table. What do you find? What colors are the products? How do they smell? Take a look at the ingredients on the back of each container/label. Are you familiar with them? Many of the ingredients found in common household products have been classified carcinogenic!

2. Ditch + Switch. Consider buying Young Living products and/or making your own products when possible.

Is it really necessary to have all of those various + different types of cleaners? Consider instead using just ONE multi-purpose cleaner like - YOUNG LIVING THIEVES CLEANER!

Young Living guarantees you safe products for your home and loved ones, including your pets. Better yet, buying Young Living products will save you money and will help you transition to an eco-friendly and zero-waste lifestyle!

3. Exercise + Sweat! One of the best ways to beat toxins is by exercising + sweating. Sweat allows us to detoxify toxins from liver, kidneys and causes healthy habits.

4. Reduce your stress + Relax. Stress causes toxins in our system. Try incorporating daily activities that help you relax, such as massages and diffusing oils that produce a relaxing environment. This is why essential oils (and the quality of the oils) matter!

5. Drink plenty of water + get quality of sleep! Water flushes out toxins from our bloodstream and organs, meanwhile sleep eliminates toxins, particularly neurotoxic waste. Both are vital for health and healing of toxic overload.

I have seen the benefits in my personal health and home by ditching and switching toxic products & most importantly, I am taking control of my health and hormones.

So, tell me girl, what is in your drawers and cabinets; and what steps will you take in order to help you ditch + switch? Remember, your home is your sanctuary and your body is a temple, so what you put on and clean with matters!

Love + Light,

Jennie Fuentes
